Glasgow has job opportunities, people who want to work and organisations working to link them, but which could link up better.
We know from research, both local and national, that 30- 40% of non-working people would like to work but want the employment to fit their particular needs.
They also require support systems in place to help them find and stay in work. Often, there are issues preventing people securing work or staying in a job.
These could be a physical or mental health issue, disability, an addiction problem, a background in crime or local authority care or being homeless.
Equal Access helps services dealing with the above issues to share information and work together to a common aim of helping people achieve their employment aspirations.
We are working to 3 main goals to deliver the above vision:
We aim to build a seamless service that will enable more people, particularly those on health-related benefits to progress towards and into work.
We are developing a clear understanding of the overall system and of the roles and responsibilities of different agencies within it. It’s about helping our supporting partners who work with individuals to provide an effective, person-focussed service within this overall system, playing to their own strengths and working with the strengths of others.
This way of working must not be limited to the life of a project. Over the long term, we aim to support agencies to make this a natural way of working.
