Steps Towards Work – A guide to the support available in Glasgow

We are pleased to announce that “Steps Towards Work” is now available to download from our website and hard copies will be available from January 2008.

“Steps Towards Work” is a valuable resource for anybody considering work now or in the future. The Guide was developed in response to the consultation carried out by Equal Access that demonstrated that information about services and incentives wasn’t always reaching people. This had resulted in confusion and sometimes apprehension about taking steps towards employment.

To address this, the Guide:

• describes the vast number of programmes and organisations that can help people to prepare for an eventual move into employment
• lists the important steps to that people must take if they are coming off benefits
• explains the financial incentives that people can use to help them on their way

As well as being useful for individuals, the guide has been welcomed by staff across health, social care, housing, culture and sport and employment services. The Scottish Government has also shown an interest in offering the guide as a template for other Workforce Plus areas.
